| Notes | 1. Pre warm both Plain Red top and Lavender top Vacutainer tubes in a 37ºC water bath. A minimum of 2 mL of serum and plasma is a must for this test. 2. Collect blood in tubes, label, and immediately place the RED top tube in a 37ºC water bath. Set the timer for 60 minutes. Process LAVENDER top tube immediately by centrifuging in a small centrifuge for 3 minutes. 3. At the end of the 60 minutes, centrifuge the RED TOP tube in the small centrifuge for 3 minutes. 4. DO NOT SPIN THE TUBES ANY LONGER than 3 minutes, as it may cause the temperature of the serum or plasma to cool down. 5. Aliquot the serum and Plasma into separate transport tubes. 6. Label the transport tubes appropriately using Meditech labels if available. Mark the tube as “SERUM” or “PLASMA” 7. Transport the specimen at ROOM TEMPERATURE. Do not refrigerate or freeze at any time. Proper collection and transport of specimen is critical to the outcome of the assay. | |
